DESCRIPTION
The Fjaler area treats organic waste together with residual waste, and it is then sent to Sweden for burning. The best organic material is then reduced to special waste at a high environmental cost. An automatic composting solution, that is accepted by the authorities and desired by the collegestaff, is available and will be a possible showcase to other interested parties.
MEASURABLE GOALS
Removing all authorised college organic waste from the waste bins.
Reduction of the number of bins.
TIMEFRAME AND MILESTONES
Dependent on when investments funds can be made available.
RESPONSIBLE PERSONS
Stig Moltumyr and Arne Osland
COSTS/RESOURCES
A system like this has an investment cost of around NOK 600.000,-. On the cost reducing side we find a significant reduction in waste handling costs.
RELEVANT FOR:
To strengthen and develop the RCNUWC environmental pillar.
STATUS
March 2011 - funding not available - this remains an aspiration
